Our client Kim McAuley loves our monthly TRI sessions

Have you tried our TRI sessions? Our monthly fitness event with instructor Morgan Gail? It’s a Megaformer, Run and Ride that really pushes your fitness limits.

You do…

  • 30 minutes of Megaformer at Highgate Studio
  • Run to Subiaco (4.7kms)
  • 30 minutes of Ride at Subiaco Studio (you get a lift back to Highgate)

Our client Kim McAuley has done every single session. Yep! Kim’s dedicated to getting her fitness.

We caught up with Kim to find out what keeps her so motivated, and what exactly she gets out of our TRI sessions.

How long have you been training at LA Fit Studio? What do you like about it?

I’ve been training at LA Fit for about a year now. I actually drive half an hour each way to the LA Fit Studio to attend the classes. I just love the variety. There’s Megaformer and Ride, or MegaRide (a combo of both) – I’ve tried them all. It’s just a nice vibe at LA Fit. Everyone is friendly and lovely. I’d never done Pilates before joining the studio. And six years ago, I had also vowed I would never do a spin class ever again in my life haha! But I genuinely love the Ride class at LA Fit. With the amping music, cool lighting, and fun choreography, you forget about the pain. But mostly I do Megaformer – I love it!

Our TRI session is pretty hardcore! What attracted you to it?

Well, I’m a bit of a running addict. As soon as I saw the TRI advertised I knew I was doing it. My two favourite fitness activities – running and Megaformer – with the added challenge of Ride at the end. Life couldn’t get better really. I’d be curious to know if I was the first to sign up actually. There was zero hesitation, I was very quick to commit.

How amazing is the instructor, Morgan? How does she motivate you?

Friggin’ amazing! Fitspo goals right there! Morgan makes the TRI upbeat and fun, and is super supportive of everyone. There’s no pressure on anyone to run at a certain speed. She’s even open to ladies (and men) walking if they need to. Walking is obviously not encouraged – we’re here to get down to business after all – but there’s zero pressure. No one is going to be given a hard time if they get a stitch, and need to stroll for a bit. It’s only 4.7km after all. This is one way Morgan is motivating – telling us the run is only 4.7km… which cracks me up, because it’s pretty much 5km, but Morgan tries to make us feel better by saying it’s 4.7km.

How do you feel after completing the session?

Accomplished! TRI is definitely a good balance of challenge and fun, but I certainly leave knowing I’ve had a great workout.

You also do a Megaformer class once a week. Why do you like it?

These days my exercise is mostly in the form of running, so I find Megaformer is the perfect opportunity to work my body, and get sweaty in a different way. I really zone in, and focus my mind when I’m doing Megaformer. My legs may be shaking so hard and it’d be so nice to quit, but it’s that satisfaction of telling my mind that ‘you got this’, and getting through the shake and burn.

What are your tips for staying motivated with your health and fitness?

My number one tip would be listen to your body. If you feel like going for a run, then get out there and get it done! If you’re feeling a bit on the tired side, then go for a light beach walk or bike ride instead. Just listen to your body – it’s always talking to you, you just have to listen!

Any tips to those of us who are trying TRI for the first time?

Just get out there and give it a go! It’s all about having a good time!
